Snake Pass Arcade Mode Update Out Now with Xbox One X Enhancements

It’s been quite some time since we last dropped by Xbox Wire with a Snake Pass-filled update, and with this week marking the game’s one-year anniversary, this seems like a perfect time to ssslide on by.

In light of our first-anniversary celebration, we’d like to tell you a little bit about our free content update that released earlier this week that includes some heavily requested features. We’re pleased to announce that, as well as our brand-new Arcade Mode, Snake Pass has also received the Xbox One X Enhanced treatment!

Let’s start by talking a little bit about Arcade Mode. Throughout development, we’ve always said that Snake Pass was meant as a love letter to the platforming classics of our younger years. When developing the game further, we asked ourselves, “How can we take that a step further whilst keeping things fun and challenging?” It took us a little a while, but we found the answer.

Arcade Mode brings the classic score attack mode to Haven Tor with a ssslithery twist. Snake around each of Snake Pass‘ 15 levels, eating as much fruit as possible to earn huge scores! Rack up massive multipliers and race to the gate before time runs out, as you compete with friends with full online leaderboard support.

Now let’s get into the part we know many of you are excited about. When Snake Pass launched last year one of the questions we received the most was if we’ll be adding Xbox One X support? Well, we’re delighted to finally be able to answer that question with a resounding yes!

Alongside the Arcade Mode update, Snake Pass will also be receiving the Xbox One X Enhancement treatment. That means you’ll soon be able to slither around the peaks of Haven Tor and take in the slights in all their 4K HDR glory. Non-4K screen owners won’t be left behind either. Those playing in 1080p will be able to jump into a smooth 60fps on their Xbox One X. Of course, if you prefer frames over resolution, we leave that choice entirely up to you as you’ll be able to select 4K @ 30fps or 1080p @ 60fps from the in-game menu. The mountains of Haven Tor have never looked as crisp, clear, and colourful!

That about sums it up for this update. This past year has been an incredible journey for us and we couldn’t have done it without the support of every single one of you.
