Local Multiplayer Battler Jump Gunners Blasts onto Xbox One

Jump Gunners was recently described “the beautiful child of Towerfall and Worms” by Mike Bithell, Creator of Thomas was Alone, Volume, and Subsurface Circular. Why did he say that? It’s because Jump Gunners, whilst bringing a lot of new mechanics to the genre, feels familiar on one hand, but fresh and exciting to play on the other, especially those of us who grew up playing games with our friends.

So, what makes Jump Gunners so unique? It’s the fast and frantic rounds mixed with the ridiculously over the top gun recoil. Every one of the 20+ unique weapons, has recoil that will send you backwards when firing, but also up in the air if you shoot down! Our controls are twin stick, for precise movement and aiming accuracy, and you can pick up an assault rifle or minigun and literally take to the skies! The 2D platforming controls feel grounded and highly tuned, never feeling to tight or restrictive, or too loose and floaty.

Couple that with fully destructible procedural terrain and explosives, and you really have nowhere to hide! Rounds are no longer than 15 seconds, and if the time runs out, it rains down rockets from the sky whilst the water rises, keeping the gameplay at a fast pace. You can even play the game the way you want to, with custom game modes, last man standing, team deathmatch, capture the flag, co-op horde mode and even a nod to the classics in Turkey Hunt!

Behind all this intense gameplay is a thumping soundtrack inspired by classic Konami games, written specifically for the game, and it really adds to the old school retro aesthetic of the game and is enhanced with the impactful sounds of the weapons.

Jump Gunners may have been a solo-designed project, but its full of humor, heart, and soul and that’s the reason why gamers the world over have been laughing and shouting around the telly, as they jump gun their way to victory over their mates.

It is at heart a local multiplayer game, but that doesn’t mean we have neglected the solo player. You can play local deathmatch and team deathmatch with AI bots, alongside several solo game modes designed to test your honed jump gunning skills! Horde mode is one of my favourites, and it starts off easy, but you quickly get overwhelmed by AI opponents, making setting a new high score a real high point.

Jump Gunners provides you with multiple game modes, crazy weapons, loads of themed levels, and lots, and lots of hats (you love hats, right?) and it really is at home on Xbox One, best played with 4 controllers, a pizza, and bunch of mates round for a night of gaming. Don’t just take my word for it though! Jump Gunners was so well received by the team at ID@Xbox, that it was featured on the showfloor with Microsoft at GDC 2018 and EGX Rezzed.

So, what are you waiting for? Gun Jump your way into the action today with Jump Gunners on Xbox One!
