Hitachi Vantara is global organization with more than 10000 employees in 100 countries with 125 locations. They used Lync and Skype for Business for Enterprise Voice but decided to improve communication with Microsoft Teams. Adam Ball - consultant from ConvergeOne (Office Apps & Services MVP) and two representatives responsible for project from Hitachi side - Carol Roberts and Kurtis Gubrud told during Theater session on Wednesday afternoon about challenges they had to faced. Multiple different systems, large Mac user population, leverage existing SBC investment, locations where calling plans are not available, poor mobile experience was problematic. But fortunately Audiocodes Mediant, Hitachi used is one of SBCs, certified by Microsoft for Microsoft Teams connectivity with Direct Routing technology. Starting POC with two sites in different countries all requirements was verified to prepare successful deployment.
Of course, to be certain that migration won't be problematic for users, there was prepared few essential step. Network asessment of each location, adoption strategy, verification that users received proper endpoint devices and support was critical.
In 20 minute session there was hard to present in details all aspects of migration but there was lot of questions at the end of presentation. Two key points to remember for deliver migration successfully - have a plan and proper partner to help realize that plan.
