Released: Public Preview for SQL Server Management Packs 2008-2019 (7.0.13.0)

We are getting ready to update the SQL Server Management Packs. This includes the existing versioned MPs for 2008-2016, as well as the new version agnostic SQL Server MP for 2012 and up (for more info on the version agnostic MP, see here). Please install and use this public preview and send us your feedback (sqlmpsfeedback@microsoft.com)! We appreciate the time and effort you spend on these previews which make the final product so much better.

Microsoft System Center Management Pack (Community Technology Preview) for SQL Server

SQL 2008-2012 MP

  • Fixed: “Total DB Space” monitor uses MB-values instead of %-values in its conditions
  • Added “Unavailable Time (seconds)” parameter to “SQL Server Agent Windows Service” monitor
  • Increased SQL Command Timeout up to 120 seconds in order to decrease timeout errors occasionally happen to DB Space workflows on heavily loaded servers
  • Updated all data sources so that SQL Server connections are established with read-only application intent
  • Changed the root folder name to “Microsoft SQL Server (old)”

SQL Server 2014 MP

  • Added “Unavailable Time (seconds)” parameter to “SQL Server Agent Windows Service” monitor
  • Updated “Service Pack Level” monitor to set SP #3 as default
  • Updated “Resource Pool Memory Consumption” data source to make it check if a database replica is readable before querying it
  • Increased SQL Command Timeout up to 120 seconds in order to decrease timeout errors occasionally happen to DB Space workflows on heavily loaded servers
  • Fixed exception treating in “Resource Pool Memory Consumption” data source
  • Changed the root folder name to “Microsoft SQL Server (old)”

SQL Server 2016 MP

  • Added “Unavailable Time (seconds)” parameter to “SQL Server Agent Windows Service” monitor
  • Updated all data sources so that SQL Server connections are established with read-only application intent
  • Updated “Service Pack Level” monitor to set SP #2 as default
  • Updated “Resource Pool Memory Consumption” data source to make it check if a database replica is readable before querying it

SQL Server 2012+ MP

  • Updated MP to support SQL Server 2019 (verified with version CTP 2.2)
  • Added support for computers with the same NetBIOS computer name placed in different domains
  • Updated “Product Version Compliance” monitor to check instances of SQL Server 2012 and higher
  • Fixed: “Integration Services Seed” discovery throws errors on cluster nodes
  • Fixed event log category for “DB Engine Seed” discovery
  • Fixed alert message in “Memory-Optimized Data Stale Checkpoint File Pairs Ratio” monitor
  • Fixed issues in cookdown of “User Policy” and “General Always On” discoveries that caused performance degradation in workflows
  • Fixed: “SPN” monitor throws errors when computer is not domain-joined
  • Fixed “Database Log Backup Status” monitor for SQL Server for Linux
  • Fixed list of required permissions for SQL Server 2012 in “Securables Configuration Status” monitor
  • Updated “Database Log Backup Status” monitor to consider SIMPLE recovery model
  • Brought back “IS Views” file in MSI package
  • Fixed: “Database User Policy” discovery failures for AG secondary replica
  • Fixed event log source description of “VLF Count” performance rule for SQL Server on Linux
  • Fixed performance rules for SQL Server 2017 Integration Services
  • Added free space in percent value to alert of “Transaction Log Free Space” monitor
  • Updated a number of display strings
