We’re excited to announce the GA release of the Windows Admin Center SDK!  Windows Admin Center has been designed with extensibility in mind from the beginning, and with our SDK, you can integrate your own functionality into Windows Admin Center.

Extend Windows Admin Center to make it your own.

Build your own tools that integrate into Windows Admin Center’s existing server and cluster management views.  Or, create your own solution that contains your own suite of tools.  Tackle even more advanced scenarios by building a gateway plugin that is installed and works alongside your custom tools.

  • Publish your extension privately or publicly: With Windows Admin Center, distribute your extension privately inside your organization, or extend your reach by making your extension widely available within the Microsoft-supported extension feed.

  • Leverage Windows Admin Center’s existing platform features for security and identity management in your extensions: Azure Activity Directory (Azure AD) & multi-factor authentication, Role-Based Access Control, and more.

Take advantage of rich development resources.

Our SDK documentation includes step-by-step instructions to help you prepare your development environment, and start creating your own extension.  Sample code is embedded throughout our guides for building a tool, solution, and gateway plugin.  A full extension example is available with numerous control examples .  A CLI is available to jump-start your project in only a few steps.  We’ve also provided an easy-to-use PowerPoint design toolkit to help you design and envision your extension before coding, using Windows Admin Center page templates and standard controls.

Develop with the web technologies you know and love.

Windows Admin Center is built with Angular and TypeScript, so you can build extensions with all the modern web technologies you already know: HTML5, CSS, jQuery, and NPM.  Leverage our CLI and all the rich, powerful UI controls that are already built into the platform to build your extension quickly and easily.

Join the growing Windows Admin Center ecosystem.

The Windows Admin Center ecosystem continues to grow: DataON is releasing an all-new extension for HCI management. Fujitsu’s preview extension is now generally available. Squared Up provides unique monitoring capabilities based on SCOM. Pure Storage is releasing an extension for FlashArray management, and QCT ’s extension visualizes hardware info and events.  More partners are developing extensions and will be showcasing their progress at Ignite: Cisco , HPE , Lenovo , NEC , and Riverbed .
