HDC UI update: “It requires a reboot” check box removed

This post has been republished via RSS; it originally appeared at: Hardware Dev Center articles.

You may have noticed that the check box “It requires a reboot” in the driver promotion detail section has been removed.  Hardware Dev Center will now be parsing all INFs in the publishing package and automatically detecting the reboot directive for you.  Therefore, publishers do not need to manually provide this information anymore.  This change will not impact the behavior of driver installation at all.

[Clarification] The purpose of this check box was only to inform Microsoft that you thought a reboot was required.  This did not force Windows Update to trigger a reboot after driver installation.
