Today at SharePoint Conference 2019, we announced a number of new features and functionalities to improve the way that employees connect with each other, share what matters most, and meet security and compliance requirements.

We’ve been in full gear since Microsoft Ignite, shipping new innovations to empower people at every level of the organization to engage across the Microsoft 365 suite, and we’re excited to announce new capabilities for security, privacy, and compliance, live events in Yammer, and updated styling and formatting for conversations.

Engage your people

We’re making it easier than ever to create rich organization-wide communications so that leaders can align their people, share their vision and make steps towards reaching company goals.

Streamlining live event creation and scheduling in Yammer

Live Events in Yammer help you reach any audience, anywhere, anytime with immersive communications – from informal webinars to professional studio broadcasts. We’ve simplified the experience so group admins can now create, produce, and schedule these events without leaving Yammer.

The new Yammer conversations web part can integrate conversations from any Yammer group, topic, user, or home feed, and compliments the Yammer Highlights web part already in production.

Security and Compliance

In-geo storage of Yammer messages at rest for new EU customers
Today, we are excited to announce that EU data residency in Yammer is generally available. This feature has been in preview and is now available to all new Office 365 enterprise customers associated with a tenant in the EU.

For new Yammer networks, message bodies and files attached to messages will be stored at rest within the European Union specific geographical area (Geo). Learn more.

Yammer content will now show up in eDiscovery searches.

Coming later this year, Yammer content will show up in eDiscovery searches, bringing advanced security and compliance capabilities to Yammer groups connected to Office 365 Groups and unlocking new industries that require greater compliance controls.

This helps your company search, discover, and place legal holds on content and be proactive in the management of information and records. eDiscovery will be possible for all messages and files in your network.

Style your content

Categorize a conversation as a question
Make knowledge more discoverable with a new type of post called question and answer. Denoted by unique styling, questions help people identify general discussions from those that require a response.

Choose the right response

Once the question is posted, the author or any group admin can also now mark the best response as a best answer.

This will pin the best answer as the top reply, making it easy for people to find and preserve knowledge, and spend less time digging through replies to get the information they are looking for.

The question and answer features will be begin rolling out to Yammer groups and to Live Events in Yammer in late June. Learn more about this announcement here.

Rich text styling

Express yourself with new rich text formatting in Yammer. As of today, you can now include bold, italic, links, bullets, and numbered lists.
