Azure AD provisioning, now with more apps and better insights

This post has been republished via RSS; it originally appeared at: Azure Active Directory Identity Blog articles.

Howdy folks,

Building on our recent Azure AD provisioning blog, I’m excited to share that we now have provisioning support for more apps, including apps that use OpenID Connect (OIDC). In addition, we made it easier to operationalize your deployment with improved insights on provisioning to apps.

Provisioning support to more than 80 apps

Managing who has access to apps is key to securing your organization. Many of you already use our service to automate provisioning and deprovisioning user accounts into apps such as ServiceNow, G Suite, and Workplace by Facebook. Now we support provisioning to more than 80 apps, with more coming each month.

To get started with automatic provisioning to the apps we recently added, simply click the links below.

Highlights from our integration partners

We work closely with software vendors to ensure that user provisioning from Azure AD to their applications supports your organization’s needs and the user information is kept up to date. Checkout what Peakon and Federated Directory, two of the applications we recently onboarded, have to say about the importance of enabling user provisioning to their apps:

Highlights from Peakon:

"To make real-time decisions, you need up-to-date accurate data. Enabling the user provisioning from to Microsoft Azure Active Directory gives our clients an easier way to sync and maintain the accuracy of their workforce data, removing the burden of manual updates. This connection allows us to provide our clients with actionable insights to help them build high-performing cultures."

Highlights from Federated Directory:

“The OIDC integration [with Azure AD] gives our customers the ability to sign up and log in to Federated Directory with their Microsoft account. This ensures that Federated Directory feels like a part of Microsoft services like Office 365. Additionally, the SCIM provisioning integration keeps Federated Directory updated with any changes made in Azure AD. This integration ensures organizations can always access each other’s up to date employees contact information.

If your organization works closely with a software vendor who is interested in integrating their application with Azure AD, put them in touch with us at ProvisioningFeedback@microsoft.com. We’d love to hear from them!

Better insights into provisioning to applications

Along with supporting more apps that are important to you, we also heard how critical it’s to have operational insights to effectively manage and monitor your provisioning deployment.

We made it easier than ever to visualize the status of provisioning to your applications. With this new feature, you can answer the following common questions that arise when deploying provisioning:

  • How many users, groups, and roles were provisioned in my application?
  • How close is the provisioning cycle to completion?
  • How long did the last provisioning cycle take?

To check out this feature, go to the Azure Portal > Enterprise Applications. Next, select an App, open the Provisioning menu item, and scroll to the bottom of the page to see the latest status for provisioning to that app.

Here’s an example of some of the statistics you can get from this view, including details on the provisioning status:
