Windows 19H2 Release will not bring updates to the Windows Hardware Compatibility Program

Compared to the prior Windows releases, we have made flexibilities into the WHCP in 19H2 release, our intent is to enable partner to focus on the quality aspect of products, and less about the oriented activities.

 

Windows Hardware Compatibility program(WHCP) activities:

  • WHCP requirements – No change. Windows 10, version 1903 requirements remain applicable for windows 19H2 release.
  • Hardware Lab kit – No change. Since WHCP requirements will persist in 19H2, HLK will also remain the same. There will not be new HLK release in 19H2. While both windows 10, version 1903 (19H1) OS can be used for windows 10, version 1903 qualification, they will be recognized as meeting the windows 10. Version 1903 qualification.
  • Errata – No change. All Windows 10, version 1903 errata will continue to be valid for Windows 19H2 release.
  • HLK playlist – No change. HLK version 1903 playlist can be used for both Windows 10, version 1903 and 19H2 release.
  • Driver signature – No change. Drivers meeting all the applicable Windows 10, version 1903 requirements, will be digitally signed with “v100.x86.19H1” or “v100.x64.19H1” signature attributes.
  • Submission – No change. Both Windows 10, version1903 and 19H2(RTM) OS can be used for WHCP submission.
  • WHCP qualification – Windows 10, version 1903
  • Required OS version – Either Windows 10, version 1903 or 19H2(RTM)
  • HLK version – HLK version 1903
  • Playlist - HLK version 1903 playlist
