Released: Public Preview for Management Pack for SQL Server Reporting Services and Analysis Services

We are getting ready to update SQL Server Reporting Services and Analysis Services Management Packs (7.0.19.0). This release will bring support for older SQL Server RS and AS versions (2012, 2014, 2016) into the version agnostic MP. That is, going forward just like SQL Server MP, we will have version-agnostic RS and AS MPs that can monitor all SQL Server versions in support. this includes SQL Server 2019. Please install and use this public preview and send us your feedback (sqlmpsfeedback@microsoft.com). Microsoft System Center Management Packs (Community Technology Preview) for SQL Server Reporting Services and Analysis Services

 

Version-agnostic management packs now support SQL Server Analysis Services and SQL Server Reporting Services 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019. Power BI Report Server is also supported.

These management packs are virtually a new version of the version-agnostic management packs for SQL Server Analysis Services 2017+ and Reporting Services 2017+. This update allows the management packs to monitor SQL Server Analysis Services and SQL Server Reporting Services 2012, 2014, and 2016 in addition to previously supported 2017 and up. The former generation of management packs for SQL Server Analysis Services 2008-2016 and Reporting Services 2008-2016 will reach end of support when production-ready versions of these new management packs are released.

 

Upgradability

These management packs can be installed on top of the last released versions of SQL Server Analysis Services 2017+ and SQL Server Reporting Services 2017+ MPs. All performance data from previously installed instances will continue to be collected.

 

SQL Server Analysis Services Management Pack Changes

  • Management pack can be used to monitor SQL Server Analysis Services 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2019
  • Implemented Database Status monitor
  • Updated display strings

 

SQL Server Reporting Services Management Pack (Native mode) Changes

  • Management pack can be used to monitor SQL Server Reporting Services 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2019
  • Updated Event Log Collection Target Management Server Discovery to make it use default SCOM action profile instead of SQL MP Discovery run as profile
  • Fixed NullReferenceException error when Report Server portal being configured to have several ports
  • Updated display strings
