2020 time zone updates for the Kingdom of Morocco

This post has been republished via RSS; it originally appeared at: New blog articles in Microsoft Tech Community.

Microsoft is aware of the following changes related to Daylight Saving Time (DST) for the Kingdom of Morocco during Ramadan:

  • DST will end on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at 3.00 a.m. Clocks will be turned back by one hour at 3:00 a.m. local time.
  • DST will start on Sunday, May 31, 2020 at 2:00 a.m. Clocks will be set ahead by one hour at 2:00 a.m. local time.

Windows devices that are up-to-date with the latest (April 2020) monthly updates will see the end of DST as expected on April 19, 2020. However, the new DST start date changes will not be reflected until the May 2020 monthly update has been installed. The May 2020 monthly update will modify the DST start date for Morocco, which is currently set to May 24, 2020, to May 31, 2020.

Interim guidance

If you have devices in Morocco and are unable to install the May 2020 monthly updates before May 24, 2020, we recommend that you temporarily disable the automatic DST adjustments in Windows to reflect the correct local time between May 24, 2020 and May 31, 2020. This can be done in one of the two ways:

  • Select the Windows logo key, type "Date and time", and select Date and time settings. From the Date & time settings page, toggle Adjust for daylight saving time automatically to Off.
  • Go to Control Panel > Clock and Region > Date and Time > Change time zone

For Microsoft's official policy on DST and time zone changes, please see Daylight saving time help and support. For information on how to update Windows to use the latest global time zone rules, see How to configure daylight saving time for Microsoft Windows operating systems.
