Experiencing Latency and Data Gaps for Availability Tests – 11/05 – Resolved

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 11/5, 23:00 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 11/5, 18:10 UTC and that during the 4 hours and 50 minutes that it took to resolve the issue some customers utilizing availability tests experienced duplicated results.
  • Root Cause: The failure was due to a misconfiguration of a value in a backend system resulting in the failure of test result batch submissions from the SDK.
  • Incident Timeline: 4 Hours & 50 minutes - 11/5, 18:10 UTC through 11/5, 23:00 UTC
We understand that customers rely on Application Insights as a critical service and apologize for any impact this incident caused.

Root cause has been isolated to a misconfiguration of a component that was impacting availability test submission from SDK. To address this issue we have begun deployment of a hotfix. Customers may still be experiencing availability test result duplication as a result of result resubmission.

We are aware of issues within Application Insights availability tests and are actively investigating. Some customers may experience Duplicate results, Latency, and Data Gaps in their availability tests.
