In case you missed some Microsoft Ignite coverage—or you just want to refresh your memory—we’ve prepped this roundup to bring you the best of Microsoft Ignite. Last week, we shared topline takeaways. Today, we’ll highlight other top news and social chatter.

SharePoint news

SharePoint hub sites are new in Office 365 and will arrive in early 2018. They are important for easy intranet development. Even if your organization has developed multiple sites over time, hub sites connect these ad hoc collections so you can surface news and other content cohesively as your organization evolves. This way your intranet can adapt dynamically as content needs change. Hub sites act as parent sites to your varied child sites, delivering content with shared navigation and visual consistency so your workforce gets a simplified search experience and you get branding inherited across associated sites.

For more perspective on this and other SharePoint announcements for a modern workplace,  MVP Community Reporter Laura Rogers  wrote a Microsoft Ignite wrap-up last week that includes a video compilation. Don’t miss her Power Hour review for a deep dive on SharePoint hub site collections, customized PowerApps, updated Admin Center, and more.

Two tweets and you get the picture—there’s lots of excitement around SharePoint:

Office 2019 news

It’s official—Office 2019 will be available in the second half of 2018. It will offer an on-premises suite for organizations that do not want their Office applications in the cloud. This perpetual non-subscription release will add IT and server management capabilities for better usability and security. As Mary Jo Foley writes in Office 2019 Coming Next Year, the announcement rasied questions about whether Microsoft would continue to enable perpetual users to connect to Microsoft server products. But Microsoft Office general manager Jared Spataro noted that this “is not the case.”
