PowerSchool PowerTeacher Pro now integrated with Microsoft Teams Grade Sync

This post has been republished via RSS; it originally appeared at: Education Blog articles.

Earlier this year, we previewed a new capability to save educators time called Grade Sync. With Grade Sync, assignments and grades created in Microsoft Teams will automatically show up in your student information system. Today, we’re thrilled to announce that Grade Sync is now integrated with PowerSchool, the U.S. market-leading K12 student information system.

Grade Sync was created thanks to your feedback! We heard directly from educators how much work it takes to enter assignments and grades into multiple systems. This extra data entry is draining precious teacher time that could be better spent helping students grow and improve.

David Olinger, director of digital strategy at O’Dea High School in Seattle, has already enabled Grade Sync for the teachers at his schoolDavid says, Grade Sync helps teachers streamline their workflow, making communication with students and families regarding classroom assessments more consistent and up to date. Grade Sync has made Microsoft Teams even more impactful in reducing grading time and giving teachers more time to focus on what is most important in the classroom.

How to enable Grade Sync

Grade Sync is powered by Microsoft School Data Syncwhich allows IT Admins to automatically create classes on Microsoft Teams with the correct students and teachers enrolled. Once these classes are synced with School Data Sync, Microsoft Teams maps students and classes to PowerSchool and makes the end-to-end integration seamless. We now have a full two-way integration between the apps--that means classes, users, enrollments, and grades all sync.

Setting up Grade Sync with PowerSchool easy. Office 365 Admins can get started today by following the instructions here.

Once Grade Sync is enabled inside School Data Sync, teachers will see a toggle appear when creating assignments in Teams. With one switch, they can connect to their PowerSchool PowerTeacher Pro gradebook and begin syncing.

How you can use Grade Sync

When you enable Grade Sync as a teacher, assignments and grades from these teams will sync after you switch on PowerSchool sync for the first time.

When teachers want to sync grades to their PowerSchool PowerTeacher Pro gradebook, there’s nothing new to learn! Grade Sync works in the background syncing grades whenever teachers return scores to students inside Teams. Teachers see a confirmation that grades were synced right from Teams, timestamp and all.
