Experiencing Data Latency issue in Azure Portal for Many Data Types – 08/31 – Resolved

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 8/31, 17:30 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 8/31, 16:49 UTC and that during the 41 minutes that it took to resolve the issue customers in the West Europe region experienced possible data latency, data gaps and incorrect alert activation.
  • Root Cause: The failure was due to throttling by a back-end dependency.

We understand that customers rely on Application Insights as a critical service and apologize for any impact this incident caused.

We continue to investigate issues within Application Insights. Root cause is not fully understood at this time. Some customers continue to experience Application Insights telemetry data latency and/or data gaps. We are working to establish the start time for the issue, initial findings indicate that the problem began at August 31, 17:12 UTC. We currently have no estimate for resolution.
