SQLIOSim utility now available for Linux

This post has been republished via RSS; it originally appeared at: New blog articles in Microsoft Tech Community.

We are excited to announce the availability of SQLIOSim utility for Linux ecosystem. SQLIOSim is used to perform stress tests on disk subsystems to simulate SQL Server activity. You can use this tool to perform reliability and integrity tests on disk subsystems. These tests simulate read, write, checkpoint, backup, sort, and read-ahead activities for Microsoft SQL Server.

SQLIOSim is included with the SQL Server product installation on Windows beginning with SQL Server 2008 and is located in the BINN folder. The same utility is now available for Linux as well. It is dependent on the SQLPAL platform, which allows the Windows SQLIOSim utility to run on Linux. As a result, all SQLIOSim configuration parameters for Windows will also work for SQLIOSim for Linux.

To install SQLIOSim on Linux and learn more, please see the SQLIOSim utility documentation for Linux.
