Introducing OS choice on new Surface devices

This post has been republished via RSS; it originally appeared at: New blog articles in Microsoft Tech Community.

I'm pleased to announce that commercial customers can choose the operating system installed on new Surface devices including Surface Pro 8, Surface Laptop Studio, and Surface Go 3. With the general availability of Windows 11, OS choice offers several key benefits:

  • Help your employees work the way they want: Choose between Windows 10 20H2 or Windows 11 21H2.
  • Reduce IT complexity: Reduce costly reimaging services by shipping direct to your employee’s doorstep – devices arrive already configured with firmware and drivers built and tested for the OS you choose.
  • Speed up deployment times: Gain time savings with Windows Autopilot zero touch deployments - from less time with app/policy updates to decreased help desk call times. 1

Recovery image availability

Following the release of Windows 11, customers will be able to download bare metal restore (.bmr) and Windows Installer (.msi) files from the Surface Recovery Image Download page.

Order new devices

Commercial customers can place orders for new devices in select markets via authorized Microsoft Surface resellers.
