Fiji 2022 time zone update now available

This post has been republished via RSS; it originally appeared at: Daylight Saving Time & Time Zone articles.

As a result of the October 27th order from the Fijian government, Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the Republic of Fiji will not be observed in 2022. Hence, clocks were not advanced by an hour at 02:00 on November 13, 2022.

The November 2022 Cumulative Update preview release for Windows includes the following time zone update for Fiji:

  1. Clocks will not be advanced by an hour at 2:00 a.m. on November 13, 2022, for the Fiji time zone.

This change is for customers running the following Windows versions:

  • Windows 10, version 20H2
  • Windows 10, version 21H1
  • Windows 10, version 21H2
  • Windows Server 2022
  • Windows 11, version 21H2
  • Windows 11, version 22H2

The rest of the Windows versions will receive the update as part of December 2022 monthly quality update. For organisations with devices in the Republic of Fiji on Windows versions not listed above, we recommend temporarily disabling the automatic DST adjustments in Windows to reflect the correct local time between November 13, 2022, and December 13, 2022.

This can be done in one of two ways:

  • Select the Windows logo key, type "Date and time", and select Date & time settings. From the Date & time settings page, toggle Adjust for daylight saving time automatically to Off.

    OR

  • Go to Control Panel > Clock and Region > Date and Time > Change time zone and uncheck the option for “Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time.”

After 10:00 a.m. on December 13, 2022, follow the steps below to re-enable automatic DST adjustments and ensure accurate time switching with future DST transitions.

  • Select the Windows logo key, type "Date and time", and select Date & time settings. From the Date & time settings page, toggle Adjust for daylight saving time automatically to On.

    OR

  • Go to Control Panel > Clock and Region > Date and Time > Change time zone and check the option for “Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time.”
