The Windows Audio Team has developed several new measures to facilitate the evaluation of audio drivers.
Measure 39415262 is used to track audio client initialization (ACI) render stream initialization failures. Our measure will track the percentage of devices with at least one ACI render stream initialization failure.
Audience | Audio Measures capture data from any machine that is playing audio on Windows |
Time Period | 30 day sliding window |
Machine vs. Instance | Percentage of Machine |
Passing Criteria | <=1.5% of devices have at least 1 audio render stream initialization failure |
Measure 39415321 is used to track audio client initialization (ACI) capture stream initialization failures. Our measure will track the percentage of devices with at least one ACI capture stream initialization failure.
Audience | Audio Measures capture data from any machine that is playing audio on Windows |
Time Period | 30 day sliding window |
Machine vs. Instance | Percentage of Machine |
Passing Criteria |
<=1% of devices have at least 1 audio capture stream initialization failure |
Measure 27539296 is used to track audio client initialization (ACI) render failures. Our measure will track the percentage of device endpoints with at least one audio stream initialization render failure.
Audience | Audio Measures capture data from any machine that is playing audio on Windows |
Time Period | 7 day sliding window |
Machine vs. Instance | Aggregation of machine endpoints |
Passing Criteria | <=1.5% of machine endpoints with at least one render stream initialization failure |
Measure 27539331 is used to track audio client initialization (ACI) capture failures. Our measure will track the percentage of device endpoints with at least one audio render stream initialization capture failure.
Audience | Audio Measures capture data from any machine that is playing audio on Windows |
Time Period | 30 day sliding window |
Machine vs. Instance | Endpoint level on a machine (each machine can have more than one audio endpoint). |
Passing Criteria |
<=4% of devices have at least 1 audio capture stream initialization failure |
Measure 26628516 is used to track audio client initialization (ACI) stream failures. Our measure will track the percentage of device endpoints with at least one audio stream initialization failure.
Audience |
Audio Measures capture data from any machine that is playing audio on Windows |
Time Period |
7 day sliding window |
Measurement Criteria |
Aggregation of machine endpoints |
Minimum Population |
1000 machines |
Passing Criteria |
<=2 % of machine endpoints with at least 1 audio steam initialization failure |
Measure 27657901 is used to determine an audio stream initialization success rate for each machine and calculates a percentage of machines with less than 90% stream initialization rate. When an application is unable to initialize an audio stream, the user will not have access to the application’s audio experience.
Audience |
Audio Measures capture data from any machine that is playing audio on Windows |
Time Period |
7 day sliding window |
Measurement Criteria |
Aggregation of machine endpoints |
Minimum Population |
1000 machines |
Passing Criteria |
<=0.5% of machine endpoints with at least 1 capture audio steam initialization failure |
Measure 29568277 is used to track the percentage of audio device endpoints that cause a system crash.
Audience |
Audio Measures capture data from any machine that is playing audio on Windows |
Time Period |
7 day sliding window |
Measurement Criteria |
Aggregation of machine endpoints |
Minimum Population |
1000 machines |
Passing Criteria |
<=0.3% of machine endpoints with at least 1 crash in AudioSrv or AudioDg |
Measure 29745823 is used to track the percentage of audio device endpoints that cause a system hang.
Audience |
Audio Measures capture data from any machine that is playing audio on Windows |
Time Period |
7 day sliding window |
Measurement Criteria |
Aggregation of machine endpoints |
Minimum Population |
1000 machines |
Passing Criteria |
<=0.5% of machine endpoints with at least 1 hang in AudioSrv or AudioDg |
These measures are currently in evaluation for the next 30 days. They will become active for making driver approval decisions on 12/19/2022.
