Azure VMware Solution in Azure Gov: Arizona and Virgina 

 

Azure VMware Service will become generally available on May 17, 2023, to US Federal and State and Local Government (US) customers and their partners, in the regions of Arizona and Virgina. With this release, we are combining world-class Azure infrastructure together with VMware technologies by offering Azure VMware Solutions on Azure Government, which is designed, built, and supported by Microsoft

 

New Azure VMware Solution Region: Qatar

New region available for AVS: Qatar Central

We are excited to announce that the Azure VMware Solution has gone live in Qatar Central and is now available to customers. 

With the introduction of AV36P in Qatar, customers will receive access to 36 cores, 2.6 GHz clock speed, 768GB of RAM, and 19.2TB of SSD storage.

Enable App Volume Replication for Horizon VDI with AVS

Enable App Volume Replication for Horizon VDI on Azure VMware Solution using Azure NetApp Files


VMware suggests utilizing a multi-instance model with distinct instances for each site to extend their Horizon infrastructure to the Cloud. This multi-site Horizon implementation enables each instance to operate independently, with its unique database instance and set of App Volumes Managers. Implementing separate instances for each site is straightforward and enables effortless scaling. Additionally, it provides resilience, allowing uninterrupted access to Packages and AppStacks in the event of an outage, as the remaining instance in the operational sites can provide access with no requirement for intervention.  Learn how to use Azure NetApp Files to provide a datastore that is mounted to AVS Private Cloud cluster in order to enable App Volume Replication using Storage Groups.
