Sniper Elite 4 “Target: Fuhrer” DLC Preview

This post has been republished via RSS; it originally appeared at: Xbox Wire.

With Sniper Elite 4, we are fully exploring the power of Xbox One to take things up a gear. Developed from the ground up, our aim has been to make the definitive World War 2 game for a generation. In short, Sniper Elite 4 is our most complete game yet. Whether you prefer sniping from the shadows or close-quarters combat, brutal stealth or all out action, we’ve got you covered.

Not only is our Italian backdrop the most stunning the series has ever seen, but it’s home to a veritable sandbox of tactical shooter gameplay. With environments at least three times larger than Sniper Elite 3, it’s an absolute sniper’s paradise. You’ll have new ways to move around, like clambering across ledges or up and down walls as part of your stealth arsenal. There are fully active AI enemies across entire maps, so each mission will feel much more open and natural, and there’s a wealth of side objectives to complete on the larger maps.

And when it comes to different ways to play, our Target: Führer will be available on release day and free to anyone who pre-orders Sniper Elite 4, whether you buy it digitally on Microsoft Store or as a boxed copy, is a playground unto itself. If you’ve watched our new teaser trailer and played some of our previous missions, you probably know what I’m talking about… but before we get into all that, let’s set the scene.

An Honored Visitor, A Critical Target

Target: Führer takes place on Sendari, a remote Mediterranean island to the north of Crete. Playing as covert agent Karl Fairburne, you’re sent there to infiltrate a secret U-boat facility built to cut off Allied supply lines. Your mission: assassinate the admiral in charge of the base. When you arrive and find him dead, killed by the base’s “honored visitor,” everything suddenly changes. Your new target is now no less than the leader of the Third Reich, Adolf Hitler.

Hitler will carefully inspect his new base with your presence completely unbeknownst to him, at least at first. You can try to enter the base guns-blazing or perhaps sneak in and then go loud, or even make it in and out without anyone the wiser. You can leave the base a blazing inferno in your wake or utterly untarnished. How you choose to approach this critical mission is entirely up to you.

A Murder Most Foul

And when it comes to assassinating the Führer himself, well, if you’ve played some of our previous games you’ll know we like to come up with imaginative and challenging ways to complete this kind of mission. In Target: Führer there are dozens of different ways to take out Hitler, some much more intricate and demanding than others. Finding every one of them is a challenge we expect many of you to pursue. Of course, many are attached to some Achievements as well!

If you’ve not yet done so, give our new trailer a careful watch and you might spot clues hinting at some of the different ways you can accomplish your mission. Like Sniper Elite 4 itself, we’ve designed Target: Führer to offer tons of replay potential to those keen to explore it fully.

Sniper Elite 4 is slated for release on February 14, 2017 on Xbox One. To stay up to date on the latest news, be sure to follow us on Twitter @SniperElite and on our Sniper Elite 4 website.
