Return to the Legendary Island of Vvardenfell in The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind

Ever since Bethesda Game Studios released The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, Xbox fans have been clamoring to return to the amazing island of Vvardenfell. And not just because this was the first Elder Scrolls game released for consoles — exclusively on Xbox — but also because it immediately set the standard for what open-world RPGs could deliver on home systems.

15 years later, the wait is finally over. Starting on June 6, you can return to the mushroom-festooned volcanic island where the game took place, and experience incredible new stories within this iconic environment.

ZeniMax Online Studios has revealed The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind, an epic new chapter for The Elder Scrolls Online that will send you back to Vvardenfell, 700 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls III. This is easily the biggest update ever for ESO, introducing a new zone, a new class, a new small-scale PvP mode, a new 12-player dungeon, and more than 30 hours of main story quests.

And the best part? This new content isn’t just for the most devoted ESO veterans. It’s for new ESO players too! Unlike traditional MMO expansions, Morrowind does not require you to have a high-level hero to enter the new world and begin your adventure. With Morrowind’s tutorial starter area, new and existing players alike can roll a fresh character and jump right into the Vvardenfell storyline from level 1.

Of course, ESO vets can also journey through Vvardenfell with their current characters. Utilizing the power of last year’s One Tamriel update, players of all levels will find appropriately scaled challenges from the moment they step off the boat. You can drop what you’re doing, ship out to Vvardenfell, and begin the new story right away. It’s truly a new chapter for everyone.

And that’s just for starters. Here are some of the big new things coming with The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind:

An Incredible New Elder Scrolls Saga

Morrowind is facing ultimate destruction and it’s up to you save the world. Set 700 years prior to the events of The Elder Scrolls III, this sweeping adventure will challenge you to befriend legendary assassins to help Vivec, the fabled warrior-poet and Guardian of Vvardenfell, regain his strength and protect Morrowind from obliteration.

Our Biggest New Zone Ever – Vvardenfell

Vvardenfell is an enormous new zone and utilizes the same geographic footprint as The Elder Scrolls III, including all key points of interest from the classic game. Players will visit legendary locales throughout Vvardenfell, from the docks of Seyda Neen to the volcanic Ashlands, to dense, mushroom-filled forests, all the way through to the wizard enclave of Sadrith Mora.

Our First New Class – The Warden

The Warden lets you harness nature-based magic and introduces a devastating new combat ally – the War Bear. As always, you’ll have the freedom to build the Warden to your liking, enabling a variety of play styles. So get ready to charge into battle with some help from your chompy, furry friend!

New Small-Scale 4v4v4 PvP Mode

Xbox One ESO players are already familiar with the epic scale of our current open-world PvP battles in Cyrodiil, but you’ve been requesting quicker, more tactical battles to truly show off your combat skills. Our new Battlegrounds PvP will bring intense, three-team, 4v4v4 showdowns in smaller, arena-like environments. Soon you’ll be able to head to the Ashlands to declare yourself the greatest fighter in all of Tamriel!

Elder Scrolls Online Morrowind CE

The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind will release on June 6, 2017. You can pre-order the full game or the Upgrade right now on the Xbox Store to receive a package of great digital goodies in the pre-order bonus Discovery Pack. We’re excited to welcome Xbox One players back to Vvardenfell, and to return Morrowind to where it all began – Xbox!
