Lesson Learned #212: Hands-On-Labs:TCP Provider: The semaphore timeout period has expired

We used to have cases where our customer faced the following error message: "TCP Provider: The semaphore timeout period has expired" in this video below my colleague Dineu Assis is going to provide us some insights about it. 

 

  • Why?
    • Application gave up on waiting for results from the target server

 

  • How to find?
    • Application Error messages: mainly followed by client driver names or protocols (such as OLEDB / TCP)

 

  • How to Fix?
    • Look for network blockers
    • Check performance on target server
