The iSchool at University of Washington sought a new approach to teaching cybersecurity and information assurance concepts. They setup Azure Lab Services with nested virtualization on a template VM and decided to create a custom image for their course

to enable the lab to be reused across multiple classes by attaching a compute gallery to their lab plan. This implementation created a controlled, vulnerable environment where threat scenarios could be safely played out in a cost-effective manner.

"Azure Lab Services is an amazing asset for teachers and professors who need a controlled, repeatable lab environment." - Associate Professor

"We’ve saved many hours and dollars that we used to spend consulting with IT and setting up and tearing down our labs.” - Associate Professor
