Choosing the right flavor of Windows 365 for GCC

This post has been republished via RSS; it originally appeared at: Microsoft Tech Community - Latest Blogs - .

Today, Government Community Cloud (GCC) customers can choose one of two Windows 365 offerings: Windows 365 Enterprise or Windows 365 Government. This blog will walk through how you can select the right offering, based on your requirements.

The two offerings of Windows 365 available to GCC customers are mutually exclusive, meaning only one offering can be active in a tenant. Therefore, before making a purchase, it is important to evaluate and select the right offering before you deploy Cloud PCs in your tenant.

When to choose Windows 365 Enterprise

Windows 365 Enterprise is authorized FedRamp Moderate with an Agency Authority to Operate (ATO). Windows 365 Enterprise does not support Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) nor Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Publication 1075 workloads, therefore it is a good choice for GCC customers who do not have those compliance requirements.

Windows 365 Enterprise Cloud PCs are hosted in Azure, rather than Azure Government, so select Windows 365 Enterprise for easier access to resources in an Azure subscription.

When to choose Windows 365 Government

Windows 365 Government supports FedRamp Moderate authorized workloads for GCC customers and FedRamp High workloads for GCC High customers. Windows 365 Government operates under an Agency ATO.

GCC customers with CJIS or IRS 1075 requirements should select Windows 365 Government. Customers should also select Windows 365 Government if Cloud PCs need to connect to resources hosted in an Azure Government subscription.

Key considerations for GCC customers

If you are a Government Community Cloud customer, and are considering Windows 365, please review the following:

  • Do you have existing resources in Microsoft Azure Government environment? Do you require CJIS or IRS1075?
    • If yes, select Windows 365 Government.
  • Do you have no compliance requirements, FedRamp Moderate, or need to connect to resources in the Azure global cloud?
    • If yes, select Windows 365 Enterprise.
  • Not sure which is right for your needs or just want to try both?
    • Work with your Microsoft representative to select the right offer for your requirements.
