As privacy professionals gather for the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Summit in Washington, D.C. on April 2-5th, we’re rolling out an expansion of the Microsoft Priva portfolio of products into Public Preview! Establishing transparent and ethical data practices to build and maintain customer trust has never been more important for organizations. Robust privacy solutions help organizations fortify their defenses, meet their existing and evolving regulatory obligations, and maintain compliance. Priva Privacy Assessments
Organizations have their reasons for keeping data across their estate. But those reasons can change and drift over time, causing privacy and compliance risk. Also, assessing personal data use is often manual and time-consuming. And assessments can rapidly become outdated, increasing risk. Moreover, they may lose relevance when privacy impact assessments happen retrospectively.
Microsoft Priva Privacy Assessments (in Public Preview) automates the discovery, documentation, and evaluation of personal data use across your entire digital estate. The solution is easy to customize and add your own privacy rules. The rules automatically identify changes in data processing and maintain an accurate account to build a complete compliance record for the responsible use of personal data. Privacy professionals use Priva Privacy Assessments to accomplish tasks like:
- Creating custom assessments
- Monitoring for changes in data processing
- Triggering assessments when a change in data processing is detected
- Evaluating privacy risks

Priva Privacy Risk Management
By giving organizations the capability to set up policies that identify and remediate privacy risks, Microsoft Priva Privacy Risk Management helps detect overexposed personal data so users can secure it. It also spots and limits transfers of personal data across departments or regions, and helps users reduce the amount of personal data stored.
Priva Privacy Risk Management helps:
- Identify personal data and privacy risks
- Automate risk mitigation and prevent privacy incidents
- Empower employees to make smart data-handling decisions
Priva Privacy Risk Management includes built-in templates that can be customized to your own policy requirements. When policy matches are found, admins can review alerts and make decisions about how to handle the data and who to notify. Notifications can be configured for delivery via email or Microsoft Teams. Priva Tracker Scanning
For many organizations, the speed of technology, the proliferation of websites, and the evolving landscape of privacy regulations make managing and monitoring web tracker compliance a challenge. Every cookie, pixel, fingerprint, local storage object, and beacon have their own intricacies and implications for user privacy. And as people become more aware of their privacy rights, regulatory bodies are tightening their scrutiny of data collection and handling practices. Microsoft Priva Tracker Scanning (in Public Preview) helps organizations automate website privacy compliance monitoring and tracker management.
Priva Tracker Scanning includes the following capabilities:
- Automate scans for trackers
- Evaluate and manage web trackers
- Identify other compliance issues such as missing privacy notices
- Streamline compliance reporting
Tracker Scanning can also identify common compliance issues such as missing privacy notices or consent banners. Also, it includes a tracker library to house your organization’s trackers and dictate which ones to use for new or updated websites. Priva Consent Management
With fines for violating data regulations becoming more costly; properly managing a consumer’s data is imperative to build trust. Microsoft Priva Consent Management (\now generally available) is a solution that streamlines and optimizes the management of consent at scale across hybrid environments—helping organizations comply with data privacy laws and regulations.
Priva Consent Management lets organizations create a tracker consent model through an easy-to-use guided process. The consent models support visitors in multiple regions with different language requirements and are highly customizable. Consent Management works in tandem with Microsoft Priva Tracker Scanning (in Public Preview). Priva Subject Rights Requests
Many organizations rely on manual workflows to address subject rights requests like data access, rectification, or erasure. Not only does a manual approach take time and resources, but it also introduces more risk of human error and the potential for compliance risk. Microsoft Priva Subject Rights Requests (in Public Preview) automates the management and fulfillment of subject rights requests for data to be accessed, deleted, and exported—streamlining compliance adherence.
Priva provides two pathways for fulfilling subject rights requests: one for personal data within an organization’s Microsoft 365 environment and another for data beyond Microsoft 365 (in Public Preview).
- For data within Microsoft 365 – Use this pathway for when you need to search for personal data within the boundaries of your organization’s Microsoft 365 environment, via the Microsoft Priva portal or the classic Microsoft Purview compliance portal.
- For data beyond Microsoft 365 – Use this pathway to search data assets, both Microsoft and non-Microsoft data stores, and across your entire data landscape, all from within your Microsoft Purview Data Map
