gamescom 2017: Exclusive Trailer for Middle-earth: Shadow of War Featuring Foes Old and New

It’s nearly time to journey back to the world of Tolkien with Middle-earth: Shadow of War on Xbox One. With a vast new open world to explore, awesome foes to battle, and legions of orcs to fight with and against, we can’t wait to continue the adventures of Talion and Celebrimbor in this awesome-looking sequel to Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

Today we’re treated with an exclusive look at the adventure that awaits in the new “Monsters of Mordor” trailer featuring the many beasts we’ll encounter and possess, like fire graugs and drakes. And yes, you saw that right. That’s a Carnan Drake taking on a Balrog

It appears we’ll witness the “first” appearance of the Balrog in Shadow of War as he’s summoned by orcs from a pit of lava (and our battles with him will continue across Mordor).

Another force we’re introduced to is Carnan, a mighty spirit of nature who has survived in Mordor. This primeval creature can take on a variety of forms, but it’s hard to tell yet if she’ll be a friend or foe to Talion.

The scope of the game is also back on display in this trailer, with a variety of geography showcased of what and where we can explore, like the forests of Nurn, the barren land of Gorgoroth, and the frozen mountains of Seregost.
