Timezone update for Qyzylorda, Kazakhstan

This post has been republished via RSS; it originally appeared at: Daylight Saving Time & Time Zone articles.

Microsoft is aware of the time zone change for Qyzylorda region of Kazakhstan. Qyzylorda will permanently switch from UTC+06:00 to UTC+05:00 on December 21, 2018 at 00:00 local time. A new Windows time zone will be created to reflect this change.

Our official policy statement can be found on the site at http://microsoft.com/time.

Though we plan to release a data update, there is insufficient lead time before this change goes into effect.  Therefore, we offer the following guidance as a temporary workaround until such an update can be properly created, tested, distributed, and installed.

Interim guidance for Qyzylorda

Until an update is made available, we recommend our customers temporarily switch to time zone “(UTC+05:00) Ashgabat, Tashkent” as soon as possible. Selecting this time zone will correctly reflect the current local time in Qyzylorda.

Once an update is made available, we recommend customers to switch to the new time zone that will be introduced for Qyzylorda, which will appear as “(UTC+05:00) Qyzylorda”.  Selecting this time zone will correctly reflect the time in Qyzylorda, for events both before and after this change.
