Several of our customers are a part of the new Office mobile app's Google Play beta and TestFlight programs. This mobile app combines Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint into a single app; for more information, see the TechCommunity announcement Introducing Office – Your new go-to mobile app for getting work done. You may have noticed that the Office app is not listed as a targetable app for iOS App Protection Policy in our admin console today. We are aiming to make it available for all tenants to target once the Office app becomes generally available.

Even though it’s not configurable in the admin console, note that Office mobile supports Intune app protection policies today. If you are a part of either of the preview programs, and want to target the preview apps to ensure the data being accessed is protected by app protection policies, use the following steps:
  1. For Android App Protection Policies, add the Office Hub, Office Hub [HL], and Office Hub [ROW] apps.
  2. For iOS App Protection Policies, use com.microsoft.officemobile as a custom app bundle ID.
For more details on how to target apps with your app protection policy, see How to create and assign app protection policies.
