We are pleased to announce that our Azure Maps Geolocation Service is now generally available. The Geolocation Service is a REST API that enables developers to get an ISO country code for a specified IP address (IPv4 or IPv6).

The country information returned can subsequently be used to customize application user experiences, display/highlight/restrict content for users based on geographic location among other use cases that you want to change based on user location. As part of taking the Geolocation Service from Preview to General Availability, we’ve expanded the coverage and improved the quality of the IP address data source it uses.

Thank you for your interest in Azure Maps.  If you need any assistance or have any questions feel free to post them in our Q&A section, we are here to help!
