This is the next installment of our blog series highlighting Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors who achieved the Gold milestone and have recently graduated from university. Each blog in the series features a different student and highlights their accomplishments, their experience with the Student Ambassadors community, and what they’re up to now.
Today we’d like to introduce Rocky Mishra who is from Nepal and recently graduated from the Asian College of Higher Studies with a degree in Computer Science and Information Technology.

When you joined the Student Ambassador community in 2017, did you have specific goals you wanted to reach, such as a particular skill or quality? What were they? Did you achieve them? How has the program impacted you in general?
Microsoft has been always a dream for me. I always wanted to be associated with Microsoft, so when I was student, the Student Ambassadors community was a great way to begin--not just for being associated with Microsoft, but also for connecting with like-minded people. And indeed, I have now good connections with lots of people around the community.
What are the accomplishments that you’re the proudest of and why?
Being a Student Ambassador, I was exposed to various Microsoft technologies. I used to grind myself on them and am proud that it has helped me significantly in my current job. Also, I hosted the first ever AI Gaming event here in Nepal that was very well-received and attended by 50+ participants.
What are you up to now that you’ve graduated?
I am working at Inficare Pvt. Ltd where I take care of the entire organization's Azure infrastructure, managing, monitoring, and enhancing Azure resources in an optimal manner, but I am beginning my master’s studies and am hoping to join Microsoft as a software engineer someday.
If you could redo your time as a Student Ambassador, is there anything you would have done differently?
When I was about to join the community, the program was not handled directly by Microsoft in our country. Microsoft affiliated silver partners handled it, so there was no global exposure as there currently is now that Microsoft took over. So if I could redo my time, I would have set up an effective way very early on for students to get a chance to explore and expose themselves in a global network.
If you were to describe the community to a student who is interested in joining, what would you say about it to convince him or her to join?
I would suggest them to just join it. No second thoughts. You can be the expert for your domain, but the greatest thing about the community is the network. It is the best thing that one can have.
What advice would you give to new Student Ambassadors?
I would suggest that they not to just use this title to show off, but use it also for knowledge sharing. I have seen many new Student Ambassadors just participating for the sake of the title and the goodies. Make use of the title in very best way possible. Host events and hackathons, include fellow Student Ambassadors and your university, come up with team discussions, get engaged in every possible opportunity be it technical or not.
Do you have a motto in life, a guiding principle that drives you?
I'm out of tune but still I will sing. Perfection is not attainable, but still, we can chase it.
What is one random fact few people know about you?
I had several opportunities for bungee jumping, but I have a fear of heights, so I couldn’t go for it. Also, sometimes I get very spiritual (mostly during my exam times). 🤫
