Interim Guidance for Jordan end of Winter-time DST 2022

This post has been republished via RSS; it originally appeared at: Daylight Saving Time & Time Zone articles.

On October 5, 2022, the Jordanian government made an official announcement ending the winter-time Daylight Saving Time (DST) time zone change. Starting at 12:00 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2022, the official time will not advance by an hour and will permanently shift to the UTC + 3 time zone.

The impact of this change is as follows:

  1. Clocks will not be advanced by an hour at 12:00 a.m. on October 28, 2022 for the Jordan time zone.
  2. The Jordan time zone will permanently shift to the UTC + 3 time zone.

Microsoft plans to release an update to support this change; however, there may be insufficient time to properly build, test, and release such an update for all the platforms before the change goes into effect.

Here is a list of platforms that will receive an update to support the Winter 2022 DST change as part of October Cumulative Update Preview:

  • Windows 10, version 20H2
  • Windows 10, version 21H1
  • Windows 10, version 21H2
  • Windows Server 2022
  • Windows 11, version 21H2
  • Windows 11, version 22H2

The rest of the Windows versions will receive the update as part of November 2022 monthly quality update. For organizations with devices in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on Windows versions not listed above, we recommend temporarily disabling the automatic DST adjustments in Windows to reflect the correct local time between October 28, 2022 and November 08, 2022.

This can be done in one of two ways:

  • Select the Windows logo key, type "Date and time", and select Date and time settings. From the Date & time settings page, toggle Adjust for daylight saving time automatically to Off.

    OR

  • Go to Control Panel Clock and Region Date and Time Change time zone and uncheck the option for “Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time”.

After 10:00 a.m. on November 08, 2022, follow the steps below to re-enable automatic DST adjustments and ensure accurate time switching with future DST transitions.

  • Select the Windows logo key, type "Date and time", and select Date and time settings. From the Date & time settings page, toggle Adjust for daylight saving time automatically to On.

    OR

  • Go to Control Panel Clock and Region Date and Time Change time zone and check the option for “Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time”.
