New Teams Rooms licensing requirements for Surface Hub

This post has been republished via RSS; it originally appeared at: Microsoft Tech Community - Latest Blogs - .

Surface Hub admins will need to acquire Teams Rooms licenses for Hub device accounts by July 1. The requirement follows the announcement last September of new Teams Rooms Pro and Basic licenses, including changes to user subscription licenses for Teams Rooms deployments.

The upshot for Surface Hub: If you still rely on user subscription licenses for the Hub Device account, you have until July 1 to procure and provision a Teams Rooms license.  Otherwise, your Surface Hub will be blocked from signing in until a Teams Rooms license is assigned. The new licensing requirement does not affect users signing in to Surface Hub to access Microsoft 365 accounts or personal files.

This change was communicated via in-product messaging and on the Microsoft Teams Rooms licenses page to ensure our customers ample time to prepare for this transition. To learn more, see Staying compliant: Get ready for Microsoft Teams Rooms Licensing Policy Enforcement.
