Our vision for Microsoft Teams has always been to bring together communication and collaboration tools in one place, from chat and meetings to apps and files—and now payments. Over 300 million users rely on Teams every month to stay productive and connected with colleagues, partners, customers, friends, and family.

Getting paid for appointments, classes, and webinars—essentially any meeting you host in Teams—has just become easier. The new Payments app, currently in public preview in the Teams Store, allows small businesses in the United States and Canada to easily manage and collect payments from within Teams on your desktop or mobile device during a meeting.

For example, a lawyer or financial advisor can collect payments for consultative appointments, a real estate instructor can do the same for license-renewal sessions, or a teacher for tutoring classes—all while the customer is engaging with them.

We have partnered with some of the largest players in the payments space to combine the core collaboration capabilities in Teams with powerful commerce features in the first-of-its-kind app that allows you to accept payment during business conversations. With a mutual focus on helping small businesses prosper, we are excited to partner with GoDaddy, PayPal, and Stripe to help you increase your revenue and make it even easier for customers to interact with you.

How does the Payments app work?

Once the Payments app is configured and you’ve established a connection to your GoDaddy Payments, PayPal, and Stripe account(s), you can send a payment request to your customers during a meeting in just a few clicks.

In turn, your customers can remit payment to you using their credit or debit card, digital wallet, and more.

An at-a-glance view of payments you have received, and those still outstanding, helps you manage payments from customers.

The Payments app is available in public preview in the Teams Store for Teams Essentials and Microsoft 365 business subscribers at no charge. Stripe and PayPal are both available today within the app; GoDaddy Payments is coming soon.

Like Microsoft, we have a passion for empowering small business, whether that’s by lowering the barrier to get started or through GoDaddy Payments’ industry-low processing fees. We’re excited about partnering to help entrepreneurs on Teams transact in new ways and grow their businesses.” —Osama Bedier, President of Commerce at GoDaddy

“Small businesses continue to face many, many challenges. Whether dealing with a cash flow crunch, finding new customers, or expanding to new channels, small businesses need partners to help them solve these problems. Our collaboration with Microsoft allows us to address a common pain point—accepting payments for virtual customer interactions—by providing them with a trusted method that both consumers and businesses know well.” —Bernardo Martinez, Vice President of Microbusiness at PayPal

"Our partnership brings Stripe into one of the world's most popular collaboration platforms and will help millions of companies accelerate their online revenue growth.
