aMS Community is a global Azure/Microsoft 365/SharePoint user community. They have organized more than 70 in-person and virtual community events in 20 countries and provided deep technical knowledge to 7,000+ attendees since 2016 when its first event was launched as the “aOS Community” (Azure/Office 365/SharePoint).

In terms of reaching out to more people in the world than ever before, aMS Community achieved a new milestone in August 2022. M365 Apps & Services MVP in France, Patrick Guimonet, successfully organized the first one-day free community event in Kinshasa, the capital city of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

aMS Kinshasa was a full day hybrid event for 180 registrants and 50 in-person attendees, and many students joined this event to learn about new technologies for their bright future. “It is my absolute pleasure to organize community-led events for the community. It benefits the whole community,” Patrick says.

Patrick is confident that building partnerships with local people enables him to organize community events everywhere in the world. We hosted this event at a Congolese accelerator of startup and young companies, KoboHub. It wasn’t possible without the dedication and local partnership of many students in the University of Kinshasa (as known as “UNIKIN”), especially Joël Ngungu and Caleb Nday,” he explains his local partners who empowered him to make this event happened.

This event provided an inclusive learning experience to the local attendees. Patrick believes delivering local language session is an essential element when organizing an event, so he has been working with 180 global speakers and offered high-quality content in various languages so far. This time, he arranged the speakers from 10 countries, and 80% of 22 technical sessions were conducted in the national language in the DRC, French.

Patrick met passionate learners and their enthusiasm of learning and sharing through this event. He thanks the community members, partners, and expects additional opportunities in the future.

Thanks a lot to all the participants who were very interested in joining this event to discover a lot about capabilities of the whole Microsoft ecosystem, especially Azure, Microsoft 365, and Power Platform. We will continue to host aMS Day events especially in Africa as well as anywhere else in the world to share knowledge and experiences on Microsoft technologies.”
